Convert TTML/DFXP to SRT

Convert TTML, DFXP and timed-text XML captions to SRT in your browser. Handles clock times, offsets, durations and frame-based timing. No upload.

TTML is what broadcasters and streaming platforms exchange captions in, so it is what you get when you export from a professional workflow or pull a caption track from an OTT service — sometimes as .ttml, often as .dfxp, occasionally as a bare .xml. It is also close to unreadable in an ordinary player. Subtitle Doctor reads the timed paragraphs out of it, including the four different ways TTML is allowed to express a time, and writes plain SRT that anything will open.

FAQ

My caption file has a .xml or .dfxp extension. Is that still TTML?

Almost certainly yes. DFXP was the old name for the TTML profile most tools export, and plenty of systems save TTML with a generic .xml extension. Drop the file in — the format is detected from the contents rather than the extension.

Why did the positioning and colours disappear?

SRT has no styling model: it holds timing and text and nothing else. That is usually the point of converting — the player that could not read the TTML also could not have used its regions or styles. Convert to ASS instead if you need styling to survive.
